Assistant Priests

Liverpool Ganesh Temple is inviting applications for two Assistant Priest positions to support the Temple's senior priest and the day-to-day religious activities of the Temple.

The successful applicants will assist with Hindu religious ceremonies, poojas, abhishekam, archanai, festival preparations and other religious duties carried out at the Temple.

🟡 Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the senior priest with daily Hindu religious ceremonies and traditional temple rituals.

• Assist with poojas, abhishekam, archanai and other Hindu religious ceremonies.

• Prepare religious items and areas required for ceremonies.

• Assist with the preparation and organisation of Hindu festivals and special religious events.

• Support the continuation of traditional Hindu religious practices at the Temple.

• Assist with preparing the Temple and shrine areas before and after ceremonies.

• Participate in religious observances in accordance with the Temple's established traditions and procedures.

• Assist senior priests during ceremonies and religious activities.

• Support visiting priests and religious personnel when required.

• Maintain appropriate standards of cleanliness and presentation in religious areas.

• Undertake other reasonable duties connected with supporting the Temple's religious activities.

🟡 Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working in a Hindu temple or similar religious environment.

• Practical experience assisting with Hindu religious ceremonies and rituals.

• Knowledge of traditional Hindu religious practices.

• Appropriate religious training or practical temple experience.

• Experience assisting senior priests with ceremonies and religious activities.

• Knowledge of Hindu prayers and ceremonial procedures.

• Ability to work respectfully with priests, trustees, staff, volunteers and worshippers.

• Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, evenings and during Hindu religious festivals.

• Good communication, reliability and commitment to maintaining Hindu religious traditions.

🟡 Desirable Experience

• Previous experience assisting a senior priest.

• Experience participating in Hindu festivals and temple events.

• Knowledge of Hindu scriptures, prayers and ceremonial practices.

• Knowledge of Tamil, Sanskrit or other relevant Indian languages.

Number of positions: 2
Employment type: Temporary
Hours: 35 hours per week
Working pattern: Full-time, including flexibility for weekdays, weekends, evenings and religious festivals.
Salary: £12.71 per hour
