🟠 Vacancy: Sthapathi

Liverpool Ganesh Temple is seeking two experienced Sthapathis to support the Temple's religious activities, sacred spaces, religious images and traditional Hindu temple requirements.

The successful applicants will have specialist practical experience in traditional Hindu temple sculpture, sacred religious images and temple-related artistic work, together with an understanding of the religious and traditional requirements associated with Hindu temples.

🟡 Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Sthapathi will:

• Undertake traditional Hindu temple sculpture and religious artistic work.

• Prepare, shape, carve, finish and maintain religious images and associated sacred items.

• Assist with the preparation and maintenance of traditional Hindu temple sculptures.

• Work on religious images and sacred architectural elements in accordance with traditional practices.

• Support the Temple's religious requirements relating to the preparation, restoration and maintenance of sacred images.

• Work in accordance with traditional Hindu religious and temple practices.

• Work closely with priests and Temple personnel when carrying out work involving religious images or sacred areas.

• Assist with the preparation of religious items required for Temple ceremonies and festivals.

• Carry out careful finishing, repair and maintenance work where required.

• Maintain appropriate standards of workmanship, cleanliness and care when working in sacred areas.

• Support the preservation of traditional Hindu temple sculpture and religious artistic practices.

• Undertake other appropriate specialist religious-artistic duties connected with the Temple's activities.

🟡 Essential Requirements

• Previous practical experience as a Sthapathi or traditional Hindu temple sculptor.

• Demonstrable experience working on Hindu temple religious images, sculptures or sacred items.

• Knowledge of traditional Hindu religious sculpture and temple practices.

• Practical skills in carving, shaping, finishing or maintaining traditional religious sculptures.

• Understanding of the religious and traditional requirements associated with Hindu temple images and sacred spaces.

• Ability to work carefully and accurately in accordance with traditional religious practices.

• Experience working alongside priests and other Temple personnel.

• Good practical skills, reliability and attention to detail.

• Commitment to maintaining traditional Hindu religious art and practices.

• Willingness to work according to the Temple's religious and operational requirements.

🟡 Desirable Experience

• Previous experience working at a Hindu Temple.

• Experience working on temple renovation, restoration or construction projects involving sacred areas or religious images.

• Experience producing or maintaining traditional Hindu religious sculptures.

• Knowledge of traditional Hindu temple architecture and related religious practices.

• Experience working with stone, wood, metal, plaster or other materials used for religious sculptures and temple work.

• Experience working on major Hindu Temple projects.

Position: Sthapathi – Religious Worker
Number of vacancies: 2
Employment type: Temporary
Hours: 35 hours per week

Working pattern: Full-time, with flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and during religious festivals according to the Temple's religious calendar and operational requirements.

Location: Liverpool Ganesh Temple, Delfby Crescent, Kirkby, Liverpool, L32 8TN

Salary: £12.71 per hour

This vacancy is for a Temporary Work – Religious Worker position involving specialist traditional Hindu religious-artistic duties connected with the Temple's sacred images, religious spaces and traditional practices.

The role is not a general construction or commercial building position. The successful applicants will be expected to have specialist knowledge and practical experience in traditional Hindu temple sculpture and religious artistic work.
